Mark Goode - Chief Executive Officer

J. Mark Goode, Chief Executive Officer of The Peninsula Group, LLC and its services subsidiary Life Policy Dynamics, LLC is recognized for innovation and leadership in the life settlement industry.

Following careful analysis of investment trends, Mark Goode identified emerging opportunities in the secondary market for life insurance during the summer of 2002. Recognizing the inefficiencies and robust growth potential of this valuable young market, Mark Goode organized and founded The Peninsula Group, LLC in early 2003. Since 2003 Mark Goode and Peninsula have formed and manage four (4) operating companies focused on the secondary life insurance markets.

His original vision for Peninsula was an integrated holding company entirely focused on the senior life insurance and life premium finance markets. Today Peninsula controls and manages four distinct business subsidiaries which operate from Washington, DC as a service provider for life settlement and loan collateral portfolios, a licensed life settlement provider, a life insurance premium finance originator, as well as a life settlement fund manager and advisor.

In addition to serving as Peninsula's CEO and Co-Managing Member, Mr. Goode is also the CEO of Life Policy Dynamics, LLC. Mr. Goode is an elected member of the Life Insurance Settlement Association Board of Directors and serves as Chairman of the LISA Political & Legislative Committee.

Prior to his involvement in the secondary market for life insurance, Mr. Goode was integrally involved in structuring complex funding for a number of substantial commercial real estate transactions. As a real estate investment banker, he raised and placed significant European equity for the purchase of landmark commercial office buildings in Washington, DC.

In addition to his financial and entrepreneurial experience, Mr. Goode is a former Captain in the United States Marine Corps, where he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Legislative Affairs with a focus on Monetary and Fiscal Policy from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Development from the University of Oklahoma.

Market Analysis

The Life Policy Dynamics, LLC ("LPD") market analysis provides participants in the life settlement market a summary of economic values for life insurance policies traded in the secondary market. We recently just published our newest report for 2009!

The report provides a comprehensive measure of market variables such as: average purchase price, average face value of policies, and average age of insureds. The LPD analysis also examines the consistency of life expectancy underwriters among a population of insureds, and compares at what amount policies with similar characteristics are trading. It is a useful tool to enable life settlement funders to fine-tune their investment strategy or criteria by evaluating probabilities of investment success through combinations of life expectancies and adjustments to the rate of return. Life premium finance originators and lenders also benefit from the analysis by having a quarterly validation of the market place for the life insurance contracts that serve as collateral for their loan portfolios.

Methodology

A third-party valuation of a proposed or in-force life insurance policy can show the changes in value of a life insurance asset in today's secondary or tertiary life insurance market.

With simply a sales or in-force illustration, the team at Life Policy Dynamics, LLC can provide you with an accurate projection of the potential value of virtually any Universal Life or Term Life Insurance policy.

LPD pairs either a sales or in-force life insurance illustration with the Standard Mortality Table or Life Expectancy Report(s), then utilizes an industry proven pricing model to assess the current or future projected value of a life insurance policy.

Why Policy Valuations are Important?

  • Annual Portfolio Reviews
    • A policy valuation can help determine whether your current life insurance policy portfolio is performing, as well as enable you to determine which life insurance products most effectively meet your portfolio needs.
  • Establishing a sale price
    • A life insurance policy is an asset like so many other assets owned by individuals and companies. Obtaining a third party market value assessment of real estate or a business prior to a sale offering is essential. A third party valuation of a life insurance policy is equally important.
  • Collateral Values
    • Life Insurance policies are increasingly being used as collateral for a range of leverage transactions. Establishing the market value of a policy is critical in obtaining financial leverage through the use of a life insurance asset.
  • Audit Needs
    • Generally accepted accounting principles generally require an assessment of whether the carrying value of an asset is state at "the lower of cost or market." Proposed rules may require the presentation of a life settlement at "fair value", which may be an increase or decrease over the cost basis.
